5 QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOUR B1/B2 VISA INTERVIEW

Are you someone who always wants to go to the U.S to visit or for business purpose? Now that you went through the process of applying for your B1 or B2 visa, are you ready to go to your visa interview? Do you know what questions you will be asked by the interviewer? Well in this post I will help prepare for your nonimmigrant visa interview with 5 important questions and answers. Disclaimer: I am not providing any legal advice in the post.

During your B1 and B2 visa interview, you will be asked a series of questions by an officer and the number of questions will vary depending on the answers you gave.  However I will go over some interview questions with you that will help you prepare for your interview.

You also have to remember that the questions you will be asked will depend on the officer who is asking the questions.

Question #1

How long are you planning to stay in the U.S?

For this question, just give an honest answer that you can provide evidence for if asked. For example you have a letter from your employer stating that you will return to work on a specific day or show your return flight ticket. You have to convince the officer that you will return to your home country after the visit is over.

Question #2

What’s the purpose of your visit to the US?

You can answer this question by saying that you are going on vacation, visiting a tourist attraction, visiting friends and family or visiting for business purposes, attending a business meeting, attending a conference in case of B1 visa. Make sure you take evidence like invitation letter, hotel reservations and tourist attraction booking confirmation numbers. Remember based on what answer you give, the interviewer will ask you additional questions to be sure you are telling the truth. For example if you say you are visiting your friend, the officer can ask a follow up question like why are you visiting your friend, so be prepared.

Question #3

Are you traveling alone?

This question is basically a yes or no question, in case you are traveling with someone just mention the name of the person who will probably be with you at the interview and the officer can ask you the relationship between you and the person.

Question #4

How will you support yourself in the U.S?

For this question, if you will support yourself while you are in the U.S, provide evidence like a bank statement with enough money that will cover your trip. In case you will be supported by your friend or family member, show proof like an affidavit of support.

Question # 5

Have you ever applied for a U.S visa?

For this question, be honest because the U.S consulate has a record of all visa applicants and if you applied for a U.S visa before and you lie, you say no, they will deny your visa automatically. So again be honest and tell the truth.

I hope you learned something from this post, if you do and know someone who will benefit from it, please share it. Thanks for reading
